The first step to achieving the perfect bond is the use of AFTC SilverClean. This range consists of two different products: the IPA-based SilverClean Dust & Dirt and the heptane-based SilverClean Oil & Grease. AFTC SilverClean Dust & Dirt is suitable for light contamination, while SilverClean Oil & Grease takes care of the dirtiest materials. Besides the level of contamination, different materials require different cleaning approaches. AFTC SilverPrime 101
In some cases AFTC SilverPrime is a necessary or recommended step to ensure a perfect bond or as an extra safety step in the application process. AFTC SilverPrime products are designed to work in conjunction with acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives. When used correctly, these primers anchor to the surface in a thin film which typically has a higher surface energy than the material to which the primer is applied. The higher the surface energy level, the better the bond of the adhesive. AFTC SilverPrime 101 (UV) can be used with most plastics, as well as many powder-coated surfaces.
