Automotive tape
AFTC SilverTapes are widely used in the modern day automotive industry. Ten years ago, applications were bonded by traditional attachment methods like rivets, screws, clips or welding. Today, 90% of these applications have been substituted by adhesives and in particular acrylic foam tapes due to their specific performance characteristics.
AFTC SilverTape AM93-series
This double-sided high-performance acrylic-based adhesive tape is specially designed for high surface energy materials used in modern automotive manufacturing such as glass, aluminium and steel. This acrylic foam tape is capable of absorbing the different thermal expansions of two materials and offers the strongest available bond when used correctly on high surface energy substrates, thanks to its high density. It also offers very high temperature resistance. In combination with a primer, this SilverTape family guarantees excellent adhesion performance even on add-on parts with medium and low surface energy.

AFTC SilverTape AM94-series
This double-sided general-purpose acrylic-based adhesive tape is an excellent all-rounder, specially designed for a variety of materials in the modern automotive manufacturing with medium and high surface energy such as PVC and ABS. This acrylic foam tape has a high initial tack, and is also capable of absorbing the different thermal expansions of two materials. In combination with a primer, this SilverTape family guarantees excellent adhesion performance even on vehicle parts with low surface energy.

AFTC SilverTape AM95HC-series
This product is a double-sided highly conformable acrylic-based adhesive tape, specially designed for plastic substrates and automotive clearcoats. It features a soft closed-cell acrylic high conformable core, which gives the product greater flexibility when needed, such as longer bond lines or when used on uneven surfaces. This tape is capable of absorbing the different thermal expansions of two materials, which in plastics can be extremely high. On specific plastic substrates the use of primer will significantly improve the bond.

AFTC SilverTape AM96-series

This high-performance tape is capable of absorbing the different thermal expansions of two materials, with a very high initial tack making it suitable for use on almost all substrates. Coating 66 has been specifically developed to improve bonding to low surface energy substrates. This modified multipurpose adhesive tape has been specifically developed for applications where the use of a primer or adhesion promoter is not preferred. These features make this tape ideal for a wide variety of applications in the automotive industry.

AFTC SilverTape AM1000HC-series
This product is a double coated (Coating 95) highly conformable acrylic foam tape that offers excellent adhesion across a wide variety of automotive applications, particularly on LSE substrates with no need for a primer or other surface modifications. Other features are excellent shear strength, initial strength, long-term stability and adaptability to the bonding surfaces. Because of the viscoelastic properties of this highly conformable core, this product reduces tension along the adhesive seam for durable bonding.

AFTC SilverTape HA74-series
These SilverTape products combine two different adhesive systems. One side consists of a hotmelt adhesive that is inactive at ambient temperatures. Once applied to extruded EPDM or TP seals, this adhesive is activated by a heat source to melt it together with the extruded rubber seal, forming a very strong, permanent bond. The other side of the heat-activated tape consists of a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive. Here you will typically find the same adhesive system as the ones used in our Automotive SilverTape AM94-range. The HA74-series products are specially designed for medium and high surface energy materials, with a range of applications in modern automotive manufacturing.
